About Us

MTV Foundation was founded in 2023 by Artemus Norman. Artemus was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and raised in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Growing up, he went to both—an underfunded school & a charter school with more resources. “There was an enormous difference in the cultures, teachers, and resources of the two schools,” Norman stated.

In 2010, a full athletic scholarship landed him in Raleigh, where he played football for NC State. There, he found how fulfilling volunteering and community service was. “I feel like playing college football gave me more of a platform to give back to the community. The kids loved seeing my teammates and I with our jerseys on and I loved seeing the smiles on their faces. There’s no pro football team in Raleigh. Sometimes just our presence made their whole day,” Norman said.

After finishing up football at NC State, Art still wanted to give back and be impactful. Since school, he’s been volunteering at various back-to-school drives, coaching, refereeing, and book drives. In an effort to have more autonomy, dedicate more of his time, and leave more of an impact, he and two other colleagues decided start MTV Foundation.
